By now many of you may have already been informed that one of the best frontmen from Chicago has been stricken with a rare form of adrenal cancer. His name is Troy Coates, but most of you simply know him as Roach. Not only did he front bands such as Lungbrush, The Plague and Rising Up Angry, but he fought to get metal and all heavy/hardcore music back to the forefront of the Chicago music scene and into the bigger venues like The Metro and The House of Blues. Lungbrush and Roach worked endlessly to unite Chicago bands, and due to his persistence with people such as Joe Shanahan from The Metro, bands like Disturbed, Soil, Macabre, 5 Point O, Relative Ash, Yakuza (and the list goes on) were given a chance. These larger venues were selling out shows, bands were getting signed to good record deals, and the next generation of metal had a path to follow.
Roach is a very dear friend to us and to many in the scene, so lets give a little back to him for everything he has done for all of us. Health insurance only covers 80% of his astronomical medical bills so every little bit helps. The burden of cancer is enough to deal with, without considering what the burden of debt our healthcare system can cause. Show Roach and his family how much you care!
